"A rustic iron chandelier hangs overhead; candles glow at the tables; the walls are weathered brick or fading tones of rusty red. Yeasty bread and piney notes of rosemary scent the air," writes the Brooklyn Paper's Tina Barry of the scene at Scottadito. According to Citysearch's Cadien Clark, the restaurant's name means "finger blistering" and is meant to "summon the idea of food so tempting diners cannot wait for it to cool."

The dishes on their Italian menu, such as spaghetti alla carbonara and chicken cacciatore, are standard, but their prix fixe prices are pretty shocking. Yelper Mary M. comments on their super-cheap lunch menu, served Monday through Friday, 11am to 4pm: "For only $6.95, I got a foccacia sandwhich, fried calamari, bread, coffee and biscotti! And this is not low quality food whatsoever." If you can get there between 4 and 6pm on weekdays, you can snag a 3-course dinner for $15.95. Plus, kids eat for free on Tuesdays.

They also hold private parties in their eat-in wine cellar and back room. Chowhound MissPeacock, who had her bridal shower here, said that the "food was fine and staff was friendly." Fellow 'Hound mike1213, who attended a birthday party here, adds, "I do not think that anyone raved over their dishes but the menu is straight forward and not particularly ambitious." Is this place worth checking out?

I live right around the corner from this restaurant and have eaten there a couple of times since moving in this past June. Service is friendly, the food is very tasty, and the portions are reasonable for the price. The restaurant's nice and I really like their outdoor patio, which is an actual porch rather than "some tables stuck on the sidewalk". Their lunch specials in particular are a good deal: you get bread, a small appetizer, a decent-sized entree, coffee and a biscotti for like seven to nine bucks.

Also, the patio's pretty good for people-watching since it's right next to the Park Slope Food Co-op, which attracts its share of uh ... interesting folks.

I only had lunch here once. Satisfying, as I recall, but not really a destination spot in my book.

I think the best thing about Scottadito is the atmosphere. I went to a press event in their wine cellar when the place first opened, and it was a really great space -- perfect for a small party. I've been back a couple of times for dinner, and the desserts (like house-made ice cream and tiramisu) were memorable and really good.
