Burger Joint, American

"Metallic blue paint and chrome ceiling fans accentuate a row of 25 two-top tables, each set with one ketchup squeeze-bottle. The suggestion is uniformity and modernism, but the service offers a warm contrast to the steely decor," says Citysearch's David McFadden of 67 Burger.

Hamburger America is a big fan of this place: "The burger I had was amazing (with mustard and pickle), and dare I say the juiciest I've ever eaten." And Nick Solares of A Hamburger Today reports, "The fresh patty has a bold, beefy flavor, the grill is more than up to the task of achieving a nice char, I cannot really quibble with the choice of bun, and the supporting ingredients are all fresh...I think the basic cheeseburger, around $7 (comes with fresh tomatoes, thinly sliced red onions, whole-leaf lettuce, and thick crinkle-cut garlic pickles), while not a tremendous bargain, is nonetheless fairly priced."

Endless Simmer comments on the additional burger fixin's and the sides: "The real draw here are the toppings — you can load your bun up with foodie ingredients like roasted red peppers, crispy arthichokes, olive tapenade, and red wine pickled onions. The only drawback it they charge per item, so this can add up to a pricey burger. Skinny fries on the side are perfectly golden and crispy; curly fries even better." How would you rate the burgers here?

Ate here once and thought it was pretty good.

Had Five Guys Burger this past weekend though and was kinda blown away with the burger. My new favorite!

This place is way over-rated. The burgers are expensive, its always busy in there and the decor sucks. David McFadden must have mistaken modern for boring. Don't waste your time here, just go across the street to Mullanes. The service is way faster, even for a bar and you can watch tv and drink a beer for the same price.

Damn good burger most of the time. Service is questionable. VERIFY YOUR ORDER ON YOUR RECEIPT. I've been burned more than once with respect to missing toppings. The usual response is "we didn't charge you [so all is well]". Acceptable only because of my first sentence.

I do like eating here... though sitting outside. Never sat inside, not appealing. It's expensive. $8 burger doesn't include anything. Add fries and a coke and you're at $16 i think. That's a bit pricey in my book.

All in all... I'll definitely eat here many more time probably - great pre-BAM place. But it has it's drawbacks. The line can suck. But I don't have a problem with the service. They should have an "express" line in case you want a second beer. That's annoying. I've never had a second there because I don't want to wait in line for 20 mins.

Great neighborhood spot. Burgers are tasty and are a good value. Decor not great but then it's just a burger joint with super onion rings.

The food is ok, but a bit overpriced for what you get. Every time I go there I'm reminded of why it is that I don't ever like to go there--oh, and I have to go home to shower off that 67 burger smell.

I do like the old fashioned ceiling fans, though.

Overall, the burgers are ok, but nothing special.

...one more thing: Don't let them give you your milkshake too early. The burgers take a while.

Every time I try to eat here, its closed! The one time it was actually open when I went, they were fighting a grease fire with a broken vent so the entire place was up in smoke. The burger was pretty good, and I really did like the vast choices in toppings. If they were open more, I'd probably eat there more.

They are closed on Mondays, but open the rest of the week. We get takeout about 2-3 times a month and it's always consistently good. Re the pricing, I'm not sure how a burger + beer at Mullanes (or anywhere else) will run $8, but can confirm that 2 of Burger 67's specialty burgers (western, parisian, etc) plus an order of fries is around $20.

I'm a huge fan. I dont eat out much anymore, but the wife and I have been there several times. To hell with the decor (although I like it), the burgers are great and the service is efficient and friendly. What kind of service do you want in a burger joint beside that?

DOWhat, they have a Five Guys in Lodi?

Great burgers. Really nice people. The interior makes me feel ill.

I love the onion rings -- they are the real thing and the milk shakes are very good. The burgers do the job and we are happy it is in the neighborhood. Friends of ours visiting the neighborhood after living abroad for a number of years thought Burger 67 would make it very easy to live in Ft Greene again.

This place is for the bird (droppings)!
The food is lousy. I've been very disappointed 3x and wished I had cooked for myself.

Do they deliver?

greenebee wrote a review on August 20, 2008 4:44 PM

Most of the time I love this place, but they can be hit or miss. When they are busy your "medium" burger can come to you quite rare. Also, lately the size of the fries has been on the small side. But, I would say 8 out of 10 times I am totally happy with the food, and I'm really glad it's near by.

superstooper wrote a review on August 20, 2008 5:42 PM

I agree- most of the time I love this place but when it is bad, it is so bad. The first burger that I had here was one of the best burgers that I have ever had. The fries and onion rings are yum- for frozen. I wish that they were homemade. The service, from the cashier to the table delivery to the serve-yourself utensils and condiments, is an unpleasant mess. I am baffled by their inability to bring a table's order at the same time. I have often eaten before my dining companion has received food. I would agree with the previous poster when he states, "what kind of service do you want in a burger joint?" except that it is just enough on the pricey side to expect service. Back to the food. The milkshakes are delicious. I like the decor. It suits the place. The turkey burgers are not fresh and the veggie burgers are straight up disgusting. I just feel like I should get a little more for the money and that I should never get food that pisses me off- which I have. I guess I wish that they had table service. So close to right. . .

superstooper wrote a review on August 20, 2008 5:49 PM

Because that wasn't long enough. . . It is true that the burgers are not always cooked to the right temperature. The place is not that clean. The ceiling fans are a bit caked. And the person who mentioned the "eau de 67" is so right.

jawbreaker wrote a review on August 20, 2008 8:28 PM

I;ve been there a few times, and the burgers and sides have been good. Once every few weeks I get a craving, and my kids ask to go. But I don't like standing, ordering, finding a table, etc.. And the second beer thing ruins the place. There are places that cost the same with table service; I don't get the choice.

Ali Baba wrote a review on August 21, 2008 7:24 AM

None of the ingredients are homemade, meat is so-so, probably should think about offering organic meat and ingredients. Ambience is deadly and decor cheap looking.

hmmm, I order out from here not too infrequently and have never had a problem with the service, my order, the quality of the food, etc. I think they do a pretty good job overall and have remained consistent.
