Damage to the Cellar Ceiling

rug pads

Here's what the ceiling of the cellar looked like after the flooding caused by our collapsed waste line. Luckily insurance is picking up the tab on the interior damage--not so with the waste line itself.

This photo looks almost exactly like the water damage photo I have of my second floor ceiling before it came down. Water definately is the enemy (well, except for when you are thirsty).

I hate to see that. :{

Before long, it'll all be back to normal and you'll have a "funny" (ironic?) story to tell people at cocktail parties.

besides the horrible damage (sorry!)- it looks like you have a nice cellar. is it a finished basement? are you using it for storage only? ours is dark and spooky, but we want to make it more functional.

Who sold you your homeowner's insurance? How were they with the claim?

Chubb--and they were great, we have to say. They responded quickly and pleasantly and we got more $ than we thought. The one pleasant surprise in all of this.

Yikes! We had some damage in our cellar this spring due to a hellacious rainstorm in Maine. I lost a bunch of things but fortunately the insurance adjuster was a dream and we were reimbursed $3,000.
