Last Post on the Walk-In Closet

closet

Okay, we promise we'll stop obsessing about our closet after this post. By tonight when we return home, we're hoping our clothes will have magically moved from our bedroom floor onto these shelves.

holy moley, there's two sides?
wow, I'm incredibly jealous...

very smart to have it built, rather than buying cheap ikea particle board.

It is actually incredibly smart of you to turn what I assume is one of those small upper floor bedrooms (that are really too small for anything but a nursery) and turn it into a walk-in closet. I'm jealous!

We've got a surplus of those small rooms anyway, since we moved both bathrooms on the top two floors to the center of the floor...

I have the same closet design in my small room. I would recomend some covering because the dust just seems to build up so quickly. I use those plastic ziplock garment bags. Also, my other small room has a bunkbed with two boys. Growing up I shared a small room with my three brothers!

Are the edges of the shelves that face the room covered with anything like thin strips of molding, or were they just cut, sanded and painted. The reason why I'm asking is I want to know how finished the visible plywood edges look after they are painted. What kind of plywood was used? Maple?

Edges are finished with a little strip of molding.

My husband is trying to convince me to remodel the upstairs of our 1800's Victorian Farmhouse. His plan is to move to the guest room and add a doorway into the small, non-descript bedroom that has no closet--and turn that room into a walk in closet. I wrinkled my nose at him until I saw your picture...I think ALL my shoes would actually fit in that thing!! Good for you, great idea!
