Is that an outlet in the ceiling for the a/c?

It's actually a switch. Pretty strange, huh? Not too pleased about it.

Very strange! I knew that you raised the sinks up higher than normal b/c you and your wife are tall, but you cant' be THAT tall!? Is it some kind of emergency switch? This is probably way too late to suggest, but couldn't the GC have run the wiring down so that the switch was somewhere less noticeable, say on the inside of the bookcase? Reason I am asking is b/c my neighbor is looking into getting a/c put in and they are leaning towards the same ones that you have...

In hindsight, yes, but unfortunately our GC had never overseen the installation of this kind of A/C and clearly there was not enough communication by the A/C contractor. Overall, the whole A/C thing was certainly the biggest screw-up in the whole renovation. Live and learn. In retrospect, we wish we had done a standard vented system.
