Skylight from Above
We don't love the aluminum look of the two skylights--feels a little cheap to us. We wish it was made of iron or something a little sturdier looking.

there is spray paint which is a two process application and will make it look like icon, even can make it look slightly rusty. i think they have it at home depot.

I have two skylights in my roof. The one over the stairs looks just like your skylight. The other one, over one of the bedrooms, is a well made aluminum unit with a single clear pane of glass. It is operable and can be kept open even when its raining. I don't know much about it but if you look around you'll probably find them.

Curious. How much did your skylight cost? I replaced two of mine and the roofer insisted I go with an acrylic dome. Cost $450ish. Yours is more like the original one I replaced and one that I think I would have preferred.
Thanks.

I am looking to have my skylight replaced with something like yours that can be opened [even if its raining]. Can you tell me who was your roofer/what company sells your skylight?
