Music Room Nearing Completion

music room

Now that we passed the plumbing inspection, we were able to finally close up this wall of the music room where the chase runs. We still need to build the shelves here to house our 2,000+ record collection.

You probably already know this, but make sure those shelves are strong! They generally need additional supports throughout longer spans, unless you have exceptionally thick/strong shelves. LPs are incredibly heavy, and I have been the unlucky recipient of a shelf-failure induced disaster.

I'd get a cute 60M IPod to match those nice walls and ditch the vinyl in the basement.

Not a chance. We've been waiting for years to have room to have all our LPs at our fingertips!

Well-kept vinyl is superior in sound quality to anything you are going to have on your iPod. Even a CD ripped in lossless format is nowhere near an LP (and makes that 60GB iPod fill up pretty darn quick).
