brownstoner, i have a similar layout for my kitchen reno. - how did you detail at the window? did you leave a gap between the cabinet and the window or did you remove the casing around the window below the cabinet? also, did you remove the baseboard where the cabinets are?

Is your kitchen in the back of the house? If so did you consider putting in a smaller window so you dont have the funky gap. You replaced the window i see.

It is in the rear, but this may not be the permanent location of the kitchen so we don't want to go messing with the window sizes.

I am contemplating installing IKEA cabinets in my Kitchen. Would you reccomend them? Do they come "flat- packed" and require assembly before installation? How is the quality of the cabinet boxes?

I have IKEA cabs too and am about to hang the microwave. Can you tell me what you did on that part if you cut a hole for the exhaust? Also, what's your microwave weigh approx.?
Oh, I like how people think that because the cabinets are IKEA that you have no choice in size - perfect.
