Top Floor Bathroom Getting There
Here's the kids' bathroom on the top floor. We actually think it's turning out better than our master bathroom, but it's bigger and it's hard to compete with that skylight!

How long is that tub? What are the dimensions of your bathroom? Will there be a shower too?

My compliments not only on the work, but especially on how often you update the site with photos of the progress. You should be commended for providing so much fresh content to those of us in the peanut gallery!

should have had your contractor strip the tub.

what style of skylight did you use- the buble?

the contractor did strip the tub and then painted it.

the tub looks squeezed between those two walls. A claw foot looks much better with some room to breath. I would consider changing the orientation 90 degrees and have it run parallel to the other wall. just my two cents.

You're right, it does look squeezed but don't think we can reorient it--at least not until after the plumbing inspection. We;'re hoping it won't look so funny once the bathroom is filled out with other fixtures, maybe a bench next to the tub. But somehow we did miscalculate it...

That's exactly why I was looking for a 4 1/2' tub. Our bathroom is only 6' wide and I didn't want it to be squeezed. Downside is that you can't really stretch out in a short tub. There's always some kind of compromise to be made...

we have 2 smaller clawfoots for the rentals, but we figured that since this is the kids bath and we have more than one kid, it had to fit them both for those times when nothing else works!

I would paint the tub a super lapis blue. Play up the idea that its squeezed into the space. Right now the room is a little cold looking. You could use some kind of stick on design element that the kids could play around with when they are in the bath. If your kids are small be careful with those clawfoot tubs they are high and deep and easy to fall into or out of. Get some kind of non slip step to keep by the tub. Paint the walls and ceiling the same color. Get a great funky swedish style plastic hanging light.

i love the way this bathroom is looking!

I think the "cramped" space around the tub just emphasizes it's grandness. A quite bold design statement, I'd say. Ditto on the safety considerations for the brownstonelets.

my thought was that alot of colour could be incorporated by using great fabrics - i.e. for towels, shower curtain - and then art and light fixtures as rec'd above...
what are swedish style plastic hanging lights?
we're gravitating towards reds
