Baby's Room Coming Along
In the baby's room at the front of the top floor, the floors have been sanded and received one coat of poly and the walls have gotten one coat of paint.
Comments
are you doing anything to clean up the moldings and base boards besides painting them? Are they in decent shape?

We are cleaning them up and in a some rooms replacing the top part of the molding for a cleaner finish

No trap door--just a crappy patch job by the former owner!

It's mainly a cheap patch job, not a crappy one. Doing things right costs money up front. Maybe a previous owner didn't bother because the house may not have been worth very much a few decades ago. I have found this in my house too. They put in these sort of patches -- probably because the house wasn't worth very much at the time and they couldn't be bothered about what a poorly patched floor looked like.
