Wood Floor Should Clean Up Nicely

linoleum

A glimpse of the old wood floor underneath the linoleum in the small rear bedroom on the top floor. We think this should clean up nicely, although perhaps with a little patchiness around the radiator.

Looks like the original subfloor which is one inch thick ( a size no longer made). I have this problem everywhere. The best way is to cut out the old wood (beam to beam) and replace the wood with either reclaimed one inch think (Olde Goode..) or get 3/4 inch plywood and put new 1/4 inch think hard wood flooring that matches best as possible.

How do you address the spaces between the planks? Do you fill them? If so, with what?
Thanks!!

I have salvaged floorboards from elsewhere in the house (closet floor for example) to replace bad boards. What annoys me is repairs that were done in the past where the joints were not staggered. Wherever I could, I went to the next joist on adjacent boards to improve the look. You have to cut the tongue off to get the board in.
