65 south elliott place fort greene 72014

The exterior has been restored, but it seems there is not a shred left of the once-beautiful early Italianate interior of this historic circa-1853 home. Brownstoner readers who’ve been following this property since it was abandoned, then for sale, and finally under going an exterior restoration will want to check out this rental listing for the upper triplex to see the transformation.

We’re disappointed to report the two-family house has been completely gutted and now looks like a modern condo. It also has a new 12-foot rear addition and a terrace upstairs off the master bedroom. (And no, the owner is not Dixon.)

Consider also that the house may have an interesting neighbor: Artist Matthew Barney seems to have recently bought the house next door at No. 67.

What do you think of the reno and the asking rent of $13,500 a month?
