Looking for a bit of jazz-age style in your home? We’ve pulled together five character-filled prewar apartments where you can imagine swanning through your gracious arched foyer and perhaps stepping down into your sunken living room to sip a cocktail as you spin around your roomy apartment.

Many have charming period touches such as arches, built-in niches and hardwood floors.

Our picks are all one-bedroom co-op apartments. They range in price from $239,000 to $825,000.

They are located in Brooklyn and Manhattan in a variety of neighborhoods: Brooklyn Heights, Park Slope, Flatbush, Inwood and Washington Heights.

Which one would you choose?

First on our list is a graciously proportioned apartment in Flatbush with all the hallmarks of 1930s apartments in New York. Our favorite features include the sunken living room and large entry foyer with a built-in niche with shelves. There is also an eat-in kitchen and a lot of closet space. The six-story apartment building is located a few blocks from Brooklyn College, the Brooklyn Center for the Performing Arts, and Target.

Located in a doorman building, it is a block from Prospect Park and within walking distance of iconic Brooklyn institutions, including the Brooklyn Botanical Garden and the Brooklyn Public Central Library.

We move out to Manhattan and find another sponsor unit in a 1920s building located in Inwood at the very northern tip of the island. The spacious apartment also has an updated kitchen but retains its jazz-age charm with a sunken living room, archways, a shelved niche and closets galore. The six-story building is close to Isham and Inwood Hill parks as well as the weekend farmer’s market.

Our last find is again in Manhattan in the little area of Washington Heights often referred to as Hudson Heights. Another nicely proportioned apartment, this one features a large dining foyer leading to a sunken living room. Some of the original hardware has survived in the bathroom, and lovely chevron-patterned hardwood floors extend throughout the main spaces. The building is sited on a corner, allowing for multiple exposures in some units and boasts a part-time doorman. It is near a small shopping and dining stretch and an easy walk to the Cloisters.
