Jehovah's Witnesses Put Dumbo Parking Garage Up for Sale, Propose Building Luxury Tower

Yet another prime Dumbo site has been put up for sale by the Jehovah’s Witnesses as the religious organization continues to purge its borough real estate holdings and transition operations to a new upstate HQ.

69 Adams Street — currently a four-story, building containing an 84-space parking garage, recreational center and fenced-in, open-air rooftop tennis court — was just put on the market, with the listing touting it a “157,410-square-foot development opportunity,” the Brooklyn Eagle reported.

The property is not located in a historic district, meaning future development does not have to adhere to Landmarks Preservation Commission guidelines and restrictions. As-of-right development thus allows for “a new luxury residential tower with commercial, community facility and retail uses,” as the Watchtower listing notes, according to the Eagle.

Should the buyers choose to build a residential tower in the spot, the views would surely be stunning, albeit in a particularly loud location directly next to the Manhattan Bridge.

The 69 Adams Street parcel joins a handful of other listed and recently sold Witnesses properties in Dumbo and Brooklyn Heights, including 107 Columbia Heights, which is also currently on the market, 25-30 Columbia Heights, 85 Jay Street, and 124 Columbia Heights. Some of the properties have been valued at upwards of $300 million.
