Wow, this loft in Dumbo’s 31 Washington Street is crazy awesome! The 3,200-square-foot pad is, in our opinion, the perfect combo of modern and raw: All the original elements have been left intact (albeit with a coat of white paint) and have been complemented by a tastefully modern kitchen and bathrooms. And the price of $3,100,000 is less on a per-square-foot basis than some apartments at 70 Washington and 30 Main Street. You like?

  1. I just looked at the floor plan again. I don’t have the patience to figure out the footage from that! You are so so guesstimating, Snark. You really think it’s 700 feet smaller than they are claiming? That’d really be pushing things…..

  2. Did you do the math, Snark? Or are you guesstimating? (No! I do not really say “guesstimating.” I am merely quoting the brilliant Christopher Walken in the fabulous SNL census sketch he did which I can no longer link to because NBC now immediately yanks down every freakin thing off of youtube. Eff.)

  3. > And yes, it’s less that $1000/foot

I don’t think this place is nearly as big as they say it is. It seems like it’s closer to maybe 2500sf tops, so it’s quite a bit more than $1k/psf.

But hey, I’d kill for a space like this. Add some color, some wood and a truckload of Danish modern furniture, and I am so there.

Except that “there” means Dumbo. Hmmm. I guess I can live with that.

  4. Too sterile, too white, too institutional for me. And normally I love lofts. Have a feeling this would show much better furnished. Asking $3.1mm, you’d think they could afford to stage it. I’m personally not a big fan of DUMBO, so I’d take my $3.1mm to a Brownstone in Brooklyn Heights or Cobble Hill instead.

  5. Great space, but my eyes! I would have left the ceilings in their natural wood, or even whatever else was up there, color-wise. Ditto on the floors. If they are all concrete, I would have them acid dyed. The place needs COLOR! I also find the kitchen and bathroom quite cold. Dexter, indeed.

Not a dis, all could be fixed with more money, and the building itself is gorgeous. But I’m not their buyer, and I’m sure this is just perfect for someone.
