Four Townhouses With Charm to See This Weekend

On the open house front this weekend we’ve got three in move-in condition and one with seemingly good bones that needs updating. They’re found in Carroll Gardens, Bed Stuy, Crown Heights and Dyker Heights.

On Carroll Street in Carroll Gardens we’ve got a renovated four-story brownstone that’s set up with a pair of duplexes. Some nice details in this one, including uncommonly wide-planked floors, mantels, lovely arched doors and door frames in dark wood, tin ceilings, and crown moldings. Extra points for the bay windows with window bench in the rear of the kitchen, a prime spot for spring sitting.

In Bedford Stuyvesant on Bainbridge Street, another two-family, this one a three-story with a lower duplex and a top-floor rental. It was fully renovated a few years ago, and not much detail remains, but there are five fireplace mantels. Plumbing, heating and electric are all updated.

Moving over to Crown Heights, we’ve got a newly gut-renovated three-story, with everything new, including the barrel-front brownstone facade. A flip, very likely, but one that’s easy on the eyes. It’s got a three-bedroom duplex atop a garden rental.

Our last one is out in Dyker Heights, a two-story with a cute facade, an enclosed porch and a front garden. This one offers around 1,800 square feet, with a separate unit on each floor. There’s a sunken pool in the back. Unlike the others, it has most definitely not been recently renovated, and it needs some upgrading. Currently there’s a lot of wall-to-wall carpeting, but there are parquet floors in a few rooms, so those may be lurking underneath.
