We’ve got a mixed bag this weekend — four houses in four different neighborhoods in four different states of repair. Three need work, including an estate sale special in mystery condition. They’re found in Fort Greene, Prospect Heights, Bushwick and Fort Hamilton.

In Fort Greene at 118 Lafayette Avenue, we’ve got an 1860 Italianate brick house of grand proportions that needs work but has the makings of a stunning residence. It’s a corner house with three exposures, 23 feet in width and five stories tall. Original details are legion, including arched front doors, plaster detailing, a pier mirror, moldings, arched pocket doors with etched glass, parquet floors and working fireplaces on all floors, and a brick hearth in the kitchen. It’s set up with duplexes on the top and bottom and a floor-through apartment in between.

In Prospect Heights, up for viewing is a one-family, three-story brownstone at 565A Carlton Avenue. It’s an estate sale, and the listing offers no interior photos and scant info. The house — being sold as is — was being renovated for conversion to a three-family; how far they’ve gotten is not clear. There’s “great potential” here, according to the broker, who requires an RSVP for the open house — and an all-cash deal for the actual sale.

A ways off in Fort Hamilton, at 219 Dahlgren Place, is a semi-detached brick house with a shared driveway and a two-car garage in the rear. It’s a one-family with three bedrooms on the second floor, a living room/dining room/kitchen on the ground floor, three bedrooms above, and a finished basement with a 3/4 bath and a laundry room below. There are original parquet floors, and condition looks good, though a kitchen upgrade may be in order.

The last stop is Bushwick, where we find a three-story vinyl-sided house offering a four-bedroom lower duplex with a three-bedroom rental above. There’s a lot that’s not pictured, and what’s shown reveals a lot of rough edges. There’s some tantalizing original detail, including fireplaces and fretwork, but the new owner’s going to have some meaningful work to do.
