Renaissance Revival House With Marble Facade in Stuy Heights Asks $1.65 Million
This is a home of rare distinction — it’s one of only a handful of marble-fronted townhouses in Brooklyn. At 326A Decatur Street, in the Stuy Heights Historic District, it sits in the middle of a row of three such houses, all built circa 1886 by architect John C. Bushfield.

“Architectural gems,” we called them, in a 2013Â Building of the Day writeup.
Behind that wondrous facade is an interior with some fetching details — at least that’s true of the front parlor, one of few areas pictured in the listing. It’s got a fireplace with a slate mantel, stained glass window transoms, and original woodwork and moldings.

It’s a three-family house with four stories, configured with a lower duplex (with kitchens on both floors, oddly) and one-bedroom apartments on the upper floors, with the bedrooms in front. It looks like it ought to be simple enough to convert to a triplex with a garden rental.
The kitchen could use an upgrade. Nothing else is pictured, except the staircase; likely other work is needed.
This was a House of the Day in 2013, when it was listed for $1.25 million; it sold quickly, for $150,000 over the ask. Listed now by Ban Leow and Howard Ramlal of Halstead, it now wants $1.65 million.
Oddly enough, the listing uses the exact same photos as the 2013 listing — which suggests the previous buyer hasn’t done much with the place. What do you think of it?
