Not paying a broker’s fee won’t necessarily save you money on rent, but it never hurts to look.

We’ve rounded up five charming no-fee rentals, all with some point of distinction. They vary widely in size and price, but most are recently renovated and for rent by their owner-developers.

Their no-fee status does not, alas, mean they are necessarily cheaper than other comparable units, but it does mean residents will not have to pay a broker’s fee.

The homes are located in Park Slope, Brooklyn Heights, Bushwick and Bed Stuy. Prices start at $2,350 and go up to $6,995 a month for a variety of home types, including a one-bedroom apartment and a whole house with six bedrooms.

They range from quirky to elegant, and many have luxurious kitchens, original details or other special features, including an abundance of bedrooms.

Which one would you choose?

This Bushwick two-bedroom boasts high ceilings, exposed brick and quirky details. The kitchen is located in a large and well-lit open space that connects to the apartment’s single bathroom, and both rooms have chalkboard walls. Two rooms without windows are sandwiched between the kitchen and a large room with big windows and an exposed brick fireplace. The building is close to the Jefferson L train stop.

Over in Park Slope, a recently gut-renovated one-bedroom in a prewar building has fresh appliances in the open kitchen and bathroom, as well as hardwood floors. Heat and hot water are included in the rent, and there’s a dishwasher and plenty of closet space, not to mention lots of light and a charming view of the neighborhood’s blooming backyards. It’s steps from Prospect Park and the F and G trains at the 15th Street station.

Back in Bed Stuy again, our most expensive pick is also the largest. The six-bedroom, 6.5-bath townhouse has original details, including a restored grand staircase, original parlor shutters, and mantels. Both of the upstairs bedrooms have en suite baths, and the fourth floor has a den that could be converted into a seventh bedroom.
