The Eagle reports that the building at 95 Rockwell Place, next to where BAM’s Theatre for a New Audience is being constructed, is on the market for $9.5 million. The property, which is used by a company called Track Data, could be torn down to make way for a tower. Brian Leary, one of the partners at CPEX, which has the listing, comments: “The zoning permits a whole host of possibilities. We have received interest from businesses interested in using the building, hotel developers interested in capitalizing on the property’s proximity to BAM and the Barclays Center, residential developers considering rentals or condos, and student housing providers who see the student population of Downtown Brooklyn and its surrounding neighborhoods steadily increasing.” About four years ago the city was making noise about seizing the property via eminent domain for an unspecified future development, but that obviously never happened.
