While reading posts over on Jackson Heights Life, a local message board, we learned that a Jackson Heights kitchen and bath remodel was featured on the fab blog, Apartment Therapy. First, let’s cut to the chase – here’s the kitchen before:

So fantastic – quite a difference! It’s so much lighter all around. Francis Temple-West was the architect and Robert Roses was the contractor. From the owners of the apartment, which is located in the Jackson Heights historic district:

To achieve a light and airy feeling in the petit kitchen, we used light colored Ikea cabinets, mixing wood with glass and aluminum to reflect light. White Corian counters and appliances, glass mosaic tiles, and strategic lighting contribute to making the space feel more expansive.

They also redid their bathroom, which can be found here (before and after). Gorgeous, too! Here’s more about the bath remodel:

To maximize the sense of space in the bathroom, we used a palette of black and white with accents of glass and polished chrome to create a clean, crisp retreat. Careful use of a contrasting color can also expand space by drawing the eye up and around edges.

Fran actually went into labor while the kitchen was being redone. That’ll sure be a great story to tell their kid.
