Paralympic Sport Club Day at Flushing Meadows-Corona Park on Saturday

It’s more than just a friendly competition because everybody wins, especially the spectators and volunteers. Paralympic Sport Club Day will take place at Flushing Meadows-Corona Park on July 20, and individuals (age 7 and older) with physical and intellectual disabilities will participate in four hands-on adaptive sports: rowing, track, field and archery. Organized via a partnership with Row New York, NYC Parks and North Jersey Navigators, the event fosters a competitive spirit in athletes with disabilities by providing them the opportunity to train and compete. But the main goal is to spark a desire for them to enjoy a healthy, active lifestyle and be part of a community of athletes, regardless of ability. There’s still time to sign up to volunteer or make plans to root from the sidelines.
