forest-hills-subway-renoDNAinfo reports great news that the long, $25,000,000 renovation of the 71st Avenue subway station in Forest Hills is coming to a close. Although work was supposed to wrap in January 2014, the MTA reports that most of the work will be done by the end of this month with a ribbon-cutting event held in April. The renovation project started more than two years ago. The work includes three new elevators for the station, two new mezzanine-to-platform staircases, as well as improved electrical and signal installations. A station exit on the south side of Queens Boulevard, long closed due to the elevator construction, will also reopen.
