USTA-expansion-rendering

The New York Daily News reports that Governor Cuomo just approved the U.S. Tennis Association’s expansion plans at Flushing Meadows-Corona Park. The U.S.T.A will take on an extra two-thirds acres of parkland and construct two new stadiums (after demolishing two old ones), add parking, and build a fan esplanade. Arthur Ashe Stadium will also get a retractable roof. After opposition to the plans, the U.S.T.A promised to return 1.56 acres of land it’s been using and donate $10 million over the next 20 years to Flushing Meadows-Corona Park. Those concessions earned the U.S.T.A City Council approval this July.
