wow, turns out the anti-What is just as annoying and hyperbolic as the What.

Thanks Emigre, I didn't know that. It argues for having a really good lawyer in your corner when negotiating the contract.

Can't the owners join forces in a condo association and lean on the developer to speed things up? I believe it only takes 50% ownership to form an association.

Suite 16 condo owners are threatening to sue their developer for negligent building maintenance, problems with wiring and plumbing, a promised gym that never was completed, etc.

A lot of these new developments that are hitting the market are running into financing problems due to low sales. They're cutting their losses - and cutting costs wherever they can. Sux for the buyers.

I'm sure you've heard the saw about location. Where else in the US do Korean typhoons want a pied-a-terre for their brats? Akron? I don't think so.

I mean $795K, not $795, durf.

There's a 2-bedroom listed in my building in Chelsea for $795... virtually the same size, pre-war, elevator bldg, decorative fireplace, high floor, great street. I'll be interested to see which one sells first.

I think the "Photo Tour" was taken with a cell phone. That had been dropped in a vat of vaseline.

This apartment seems great -- but if it's on the street side, loudness. #4A sold for $699 in Dec. '07, so maybe this price isn't such a reach.

The Developers Group has more info, but not prices, on their site:
http://thedevelopersgroup.com/buildings/building.aspx?buildingid=1152&
The prices seem high, especially when combined with those cc costs.

Good closet space, highish ceilings, but no outdoor space (except for the shared "zen-inspired garden" which is embarrassingly bad). No parking space. There's so much new construction around this area, lots of competition. I think the price will have to drop a little bit more, considering the state of the market right now.

Hm, maybe Ikea will create a "first class" section for those who purchase a $500 "Flöomp" vs. a $2 "Glorm" -- those customers will have to sit in the stern and breathe diesel fumes.

I would pay that. Cheaper than a stick of gum, and way better, hands down.
