Looking for picture of mural
Hey, does anyone have a picture of the mural that is/was in Ft Greene near Flatbush Ave. -- it might have been on Prince street or thereabouts? If so, please let me know here, I would like a copy. I have included a picture of it in it's current partially destroyed state.

Free Pavers
Hi everyone,
We have somewhere between 40-60 sq ft of 1.5'x1.5' concrete pavers. None are broken and they're in good shape. One side looks like a brick patter, the other side is smooth, you could use either side up. These would be great for someone who wants to make a cheap patio in the back yard.
Please post here if you want them. Pick up only, they're relatively heavy.

In Search of Bricks
Hi, I am looking for real bricks, preferably old ones. I can pick them up, I can dig them out of the ground, etc. Broken bricks are OK but would prefer some full ones as well. I'm in Clinton Hill and have a minivan so I can pick up from other neighborhoods. Thanks!

I think the brown "wolf" in the middle slide was made by Arthur Wood, the person who built Broken Angel.

Maybe Bloomberg and Ratner can remove and replace some people from the IBO and get a more favorable report drawn up. Then they can pretend this one never happened. Then when these real numbers roll in they can blame it on, um, I don't know ... the taxpayers?

The MTA is just pure garbage. They have proven it again and again and again. The most idiotic, worst run entity in the city.

"stakeholders", ???
Are there really stakeholders involved in this at present? I mean aside from Bruce Ratner and his crew of Nets owners. Which Brooklyn residents hold a stake in AY and what does their stake currently consist of?
I'm just curious.

You're going to have a very hard time fighting a developer in Bloomberg's america. I agree with BH76, look at ways to mitigate and also see if you or your block association can talk to the developer, not only to find out more on his plans but also to let him know your concerns, etc.

The White Castle is a bummer and Steuben street is no great shakes but the area around this building is improving, especially the area of Myrtle right in front of it where Pratt is currently building. Also, there are decent places to eat nearby, including Pillow and Choice.
I tried to go to an open house here once though and there was no one around at the scheduled time.

One time i was at Soda (nearby bar that i'm sure all the Manhattans naysayers here love) and someone threw up on the floor out on the patio. The smelly throw-up was right under a table and chairs so no one could use them. No one cleaned it up the whole night even though the patio was full of people and even though several employees walked by it repeatedly. It was great, what a classy joint!

Sorry about my misspelling 11217.
So as I understand it, because you think the subway is cheap then it's alright for the MTA to mususe public dollars?
Sell the land to the highest bidder, and I will stop complaining, and if the MTA sells that land for the right price then their tax revenue will go up to. There are absolutely no excuses here.

A question for all you pro-AYers on here, isn't the $100 million dollars the MTA passed up on their Atlantic Yards land deal a lot of money too?
Posted by: werner at June 24, 2009 1:23 PM in response to More Naming Rights for Barclay's
If the MTA really wanted the $4 million extra bucks they get from this, why didn't they charge market rate for the Atlantic Yards like any intelligent land owner would?
Why is the MTA selling the farm for nothing and then raising our subway fairs? These are the real questions...

It looked to me like they were hammering stucco/mortar off the brick (former) party wall with a mechanical hammer. That wall was simply stacked brick and nothing else, and as we know there was already a large crack in it. I'm not sure that they were doing any excavating.

I suggest that you call Andre from A&A 718-953-2836 (blue ad to the right) He know's his chimneys and fireplaces and has recently done 2 jobs on Argyle Rd. Andre is a chimney man not a salesman. I'm just a satisfied customer who thinks that the good contractors should be recommended.

i think that the contractors were suggesting moving the boiler vent to the out side, using stainless steel b vent, not the steam lines...in order to free up the existing masonry chimney for a fireplace...you can also use stainless for a woodburning fireplace, but as i remember the last one that i put in required a 12 inch diameter stainless doublewall vent...check out a masonry alternative by all means
