The biggest problem with this block IMO is that there are so many residents of the housing projects on Myrtle walking back and forth on it at all times. The house is located on the closest route for them to the subway on shopping. It is like a pedestrian highway.

While this may sound elitist, there is no way that I would raise children on that block. Just too many shady people walking by all the time.

Miguel,

Have you ever been to Washington Park? Really, there are MANY more shady people walking by on that block than on almost any other in Fort Greene (due to the housing projects one block away). This is going to be a HUGE turnoff for any potential buyer, especially one that intends to raise children in the house.

Iceberg,

You're right that we wouldn't need so many rules and enforcement if everyone had a great sense morality. But here in the real world (and especially in NYC!), not everyone does have such great morals.

Just because Putnam Denizen is not as naive as you are does not mean that he is immoral.

I believe the Hasidic community is putting up these buildings as big, cheaply, and quickly as possibly because their community is expanding in size so quickly. They desperately need housing that is within their community and close to their synagogues. Quick, cheap construction is a necessity under these circumstances.

I think that calling these buildings "Bedford Bums" is insensitive to needs of the Hasidic community.

it's always thin pickings this time of year. The best deals have already sold in the spring and early summer. What's left usually is overpriced or has something wrong with it.

People are so worried about a bubble that they think prices are falling even when they aren't.

choosy mother,

what do you mean by "veggieburger and her/his ilk?" Don't you think "veggieburger and those who agree with him/her" would be a more respectful way of saying the same thing?

If you have a point, just say it. Rudeness does not make your point of view any more credible.

Actually, Schaeffer Landing has a ferry service to Manhattan. Not quite the same as a kayak, but the same idea. Shaeffer Landing is also closer to the JMZ than the L train anyway, and the JMZ isn't quite as crowded.

The problem with Shaeffer Landing is that you are on the fringe of Hipster Williamsburg, pretty far from most of the restaurants, shops, and galleries that most trustifarians like to patron. Some are moving in on Broadway, which should help.

The main reason I would pick Shaeffer Landing over MPC is that I really prefer to have two bathrooms.
