I will go on record and say that the 2nd st house is definitely not in the better part of CG - east of Hoyt, more Gowanus than CG, and not one of the deep-fronted garden blocks. North of $1M for that tiny place is astounding.

I get so tired of the incessant ragging on NIMBY's. C'mon, face it, EVERYBODY's a NIMBY! No one wants certain uses or functions built next to their residence (houses of detention, environmentally-damaging facilities, Starbucks - I could go on).

judging by how slowly work has been proceeding on this building, I'm guessing that the fix is already in for Mr. Stein. If he were really worried about losing height/floor area, he would have been working like mad to get his foundations completed
