History on 419 Union Street
I went to go look at 419 Union Street( Carroll Gardens/Gowanus area) again. I wanted to research the family history of the house dating back to the 1800's when it was built. Does anyone now how I can go about that???

I went to an open house today on union street btw hoyt and bond. I really loved the house but not so sure about the location. I am not familiar with this area so some feed back would be really appreciated.

"EX: Park Slope/Crown Heights/ The other side of the Prospect park."
I live on 3rd street and 6th Ave in Park slope - Please enlighten me as to which projects are 3-4 blocks away.
Thanks!

A four block radius around the Gowanus Houses would extend east/west from Henry St. to 5th Avenue and north/south from Atlantic Avenue to Fifth Avenue, encompassing almost all of Cobble Hill + Boerum Hill and parts of Gowanus. Ironically, it would not include the block that was of interest to the OP (Union St. between Hoyt and Bond which is 5 blocks away.

Well ok you live on 3rd street and 6th ave right? OK walk up to Prospect park west then cross over to Eastern Parkway, How many blocks was that? Ok that is not housing projects but it certainly is a Ghetto. Now walk on over to Flatbush ave and what's right there? ok now lets see who is walking all over 7th ave at 3pm after school? Ok my point indeed.

Again - This is not 3 or 4 blocks, You and the 2:33 poster are idiots. The OP is planning on living 3-4 blocks (Read-Street Blocks) from a huge housing project. This translates into a 1 minute or less walk.
What you guys are talking about "A four Block Radius encompasses 5th Avenue" and "Cross Prospect Park to Eastern Parkway..." are really measured more in miles than minutes. Please try to at least be more realistic when arguing your obvious major stretch of a point.

Can anyone comment on the garbage truck noise specifically on President street btw 5th and 6th Ave? I am looking to move into a brownstone but the bedroom is in the front and I am very concerned about noise. Clearly a quiet street otherwise... Does anyone know what time collection takes place?
Thank you!

Wow, I'm loking to buy in this immediate area of Union Street and thought that the only annoyance was going to be the school, but that is much more pleasant than garbage trucks and busses that are 24/7...how about the neighbors closer to Bond street, because as i was coming down union, there is a pretty quick shift in neighborhood - is this the border of CG & Gowanus? Can anyone please offer up some opinions on the block...Much appreciated!
