Claw Foot Tub Overflow
We have an old claw foot we would like to re-install, but have been told by a plumber that the overflow and outflow plumbing is old and hard to purchase. If anyone is getting rid of an old claw foot tub, it would be great if we could purchase the old plumbing from you. Thanks.

Flat Roof Insulation Install
hi,
we wanted to get insulation installed in our flat roof, which goes from 33 feet or so at the front, to 6" or so at the rear. Does anyone know of anyone who would do this? Blow in or bats, I dont really mind.

I feel that this great (if slightly precious) restaurant gets lost amongst a few other great (if slightly precious) restaurants in the same area. This is a great restaurant - lovely food, wonderful space and really good service. A bit expensive, but isnt everything? The menu nails it. (re value ratings below - there needs to be something between "very overpriced" and "about right" - maybe "special occasion"? )
Dave,
great, thanks - called Federal, and they quoted $2 psf sight unseen.

re ironballs:
"If the market can go up 300% in ten years, why can't it go down 50% in two or three?"
I think that brooklyn and the demand for property here has changed so fundamentally in the last 10 years that an analysis like this is null.
"Jack,
In a declining market like this one, the longer a property is listed, the less it eventually fetches."
I would have thought that all the above sales would disprove that.

Slopefarm - i'm guessing all that is correct, and obviously the seller can choose any broker to go with, but if there is an inside deal for a developer purchaser to sell with the same broker (or some other inside deal with the selling broker) surely they would have to disclose to the original seller? It's not like it was an all cash deal - there is still a 65% mortgage on the property.

I agree with the above - it's a good local to have, a nice spot to have a drink (esp on Monday night happy hour) and if feeling a bit flush the slightly too high prices for the OK food dont seem so bad.
Slopefarm - you are totally right, that is a Charrette development. I wonder how on earth they find out about listings like this - it was listed for 3 days. Seems odd.

I love (the thankfully renamed) Korzo - the mains are always great, but I love getting dessert and a beer here before heading home. The beers on tap are always superb, and staff are always super friendly. I wish they would make that back room feel a bit less cave like, though.
re lower priced places in contract - i am curious to see how the widget went with this if it closes:

i was thinking the fort greene place looked interesting until i realized that the agent stating that it was 12.5' wide was not a typo.

Denton, we live in the same neighborhood, and are at the beginning of embarking on a similar project, and would love to hear more offline if we could buy you a drink at kitchen bar (or somewhere else if you'd prefer). Let us know (we left our e-mail address in my profile) - and great hearing that it's all so close and seeing how wonderful it's all looking.

I love sheep station. Great food, great beer and a good feel. I like that it feels good in both the summer and cozy in winter, and its good to be able to eat in the bar or the quieter back room. Great place.

Steinhof is great - wonderful food and some great times had there.
Bolder, it was not an all cash offer - there was a mortgage for $950,000 taken out at the closing.

tribe, yes, that's what I paid PLUS $200 each for the two vents in addition to the insulation.

My plumber was able to find all the parts for our clawfoot tub's drain system without leaving Brooklyn. It was 6 or 8 years ago, and I don't remember where he went, but I think the larger commercial (to the trade) suppliers carry that stuff.

You can really use any plumber for this. If they are old and have been in business for a long time in brownstone Brooklyn, so much the better. They'll have seen it all a million times.
