Installing Curtain Rod

I am trying to install a curtain rod in my apartment. I tried to drill using a masonry bit, but it seems as if I hit a metal plate. I think it's the rebar so I doubt a metal bit would work. Is there any other way I can install my curtain rod?

If I try the plywood, should I spackle the hole I made with the drill first? Does that not matter?

Does anyone know if any of refrigerators have quiet motors? I live in a studio and my current fridge is so loud!!

depends how big a hole you made
the hole will be covered up, but if you made a large hole then there is less surface for the glue to stick to to hold the plywood in place

I ran into the same thing and got self-tapping metal screws to hold the rods in. Actually, my dad did it for me. So I guess my second suggestion is call your mom or dad.

I've been seraching for similar fridge--found that the small LG fridge was great price ($800) but the freezer is the same size as the refrigerator, so you can't store much unless you're a frozen juice concentrate fan or something.

The summit 24" fridge is much more expensive ($1500) you can get it from PC Richards, but it seems like the best buy, it's energystar rated, etc.
