I cannot say enough about the deliciousness at Dressler. My mouth waters thinking about the artichoke salad, smoked trout starter, and tortellini in parmesan broth. I think the Dressler is perfect for date night, all ages. Skip dessert and have another cocktail....
Not long ago, an older gentleman (I'd say in his late 70s) had been yelling jibberish outside of my window all day. It was in the high 90s, and I honestly thought he was going to fry out there. At one point he wondered off but eventually he came back and passed out on my neighbor's stoop. He seemed like he had dementia or Alzheimers, and I was worried about his fate. 311 told me to call my local precinct and never even suggested DHS. My local (76) asked if I had called 311. Buck passing all around.

Marci, you took the words right out of my mouth. Early afternoon, not a person in sight, yet no outside seating without ordering food. I could see if it were busy, but.... We kept on walking because frankly, the food's not worth the patio. Such a bummer, really, because I would probably drink my weight in margaritas if they'd just let me do it outside. The servers and bartenders have always been very cool, however.

I'm a fan for weekday lunch. The calamari salad, moules frites, and burger are all consistently delicious. Service can be slow, but who cares when you are relaxing with an ice cold beer and a monster plate of mussels? I'm kind of into the dingy ambiance although on occasion the corner of Smith and Dean can smell a bit, um, dead rodenty. With One Girl Cookie next door I've never bothered with dessert at Bar Tabac. Mmm, whoopie pies and strong coffee!

I agree with Pierre...enough STRONG margaritas will make you forget about everything wrong. It's the same case with Pacifico.

The view is nice, but I'm not too crazy about the plastic 'windbreakers' hanging around the patio. They sort of ruin the effect for me. It feels like you are sitting inside a hazmat zone from some B horror movie. The food is nothing spectacular except the enchiladas en mole. I've eaten them twice and both times the mole was delicious. Great margaritas. I can't remember if I considered it spendy or not, so I'm going to guess not as I usually bank overpriced joints to memory.

I'm not totally bowled over by the ambiance. My husband had the 5-way lamb, which was amazing. Baked Alaska was delicious as well. The only problem: my husband's pine nut allergy landed him in the ER that night after we'd been reassured over and over by the server that there weren't pine nuts in anything....

Eh. Just eh. Crazy cramped. Another disappointing attempt at Mexican in New York. I actually think Bonita is a bit tastier although I'm still not going to rave about the authenticity. As for Red Hook SoccerTacos? It's more hipster Mexican than Pequeña and Bonita combined. I have pictures to prove it!

delicious, but eat it there. the pizza loses some of its zing if you take it home (which we do to avoid imposing with OUR stroller). love to watch iacono in his zen pie-making haze. the atmosphere is extremely appealing.

Although I fully support Harding and Mamary, this place has gone downhill in recent years. Last time we had brunch: undercooked eggs (raw, cold whites, sent back twice, disgusting), clueless wait staff, and terribly slow service. My vote goes to Chestnut for the best brunch in South Brooklyn. They may not have mimosa refills, but their food is consistently AMAZING. Oatmeal pancakes, poached eggs on toast with the most delicious mushroom sauce ever....

In many major cities, developers are required to pay a development tax that will support the new population the development will bring by building schools and making public spaces.
From what I've heard (and of course I can't back this up with any actual findings---I've been looking---it's just a discussion I was in on with some other parents), New York developers are not required to pay any sort of tax that would fund the development of new schools.
If this is true, the DOE, developers, and city planners are ALL at fault.
