ceiling painting question
My contractor says that the reason the ceiling looks like multiple shades of white instead of one color is that the bathroom is too hot - there is a steam heater there and the light fixture generates additional heat, so he can't paint properly without the paint drying or "turning into small balls". Is that a reasonable explanation? Is there a trick to making a coat of paint look like it's one color throughout the ceiling?
using onyx tray as bathroom shelves on tile
I have a space in the bathroom which is tiled on 3 sides which would be ideal to put some sheves in - it's like a niche which is about 13 inches wide and 7 inches deep and goes all the way from tub to the ceiling (it is there thanks to the heater riser pipe having been covered with sheetrock an tiles). I found great onyx shelves at CB2 that fit perfectly sidewise, but they are beveled:

I could really use some suggestions as to how install these so it looks beatuful - black caulk? L-corners painted black? triangular plexiglass tubes to match the beveled slant? I have no idea.

original door with venetian frosted glass
Original door with Italian frosted venetian glass for sale. Already taken out and replaced. 25 3/8 by 81 3/8, 1 3/4 wide. Currently covered with white paint. If stripped and refinished, will look great and is a real treasure. Also, 2 wood window panes with the same glass, probably not worth restoring as the wood is slightly damages but the glass itself should be worth something. Best offer in cash gets it. Pick up in Sunset Park. Not the best picture but you can get the idea

making french door with clear glass obscure
I got a french door with clear glass for my bathroom
(http://www.lowes.com/lowes/lkn?action=productDetail&productId=08403-1416-08403&lpage=none) and want to make this glass obscure. I originally planned to either use the frosting spray or self adhesive film they sell at both Lowes and Home Depot. However, the former turned out to look plain ugly, and the latter is not really obscure enough. Can anybody recommend an easy do it yourself way to make this work? Perhaps there are other window films somewhere? Or we can use some other method?

Hard to tell, but that looks like common Florentin glass to me.

I admit my ignorance about this, that's what I heard it's called from others. I always thought it's because of the intricate design. It looks like many little three-dimentional flowers with multiple tiny petals on one side, and flat on the other side.
