Oh Jesus. Can somebody explain this to Zinka without implying that a truck or car that is going southbound on Franklin street to Kent avenue and reaches the spot where the one-way commences (or ends) is not going to get to miraculously levitate over five avenues and find themselves back at Meeker or McGuinness. They have to get "out" somehow. They won't be barring trucks from turning down Greenpoint avenue to Franklin to Kent to get stuck down in the booby trap at N14th.

Your map reading skills need a little work. It is one way clearly starting at N 14th street according to the Aug 7 , 09 pdf from the DOT you linked.

Is there a pdf from the DOT with this design on it , or is this gossip?

So how long will the folks on the southside of McCarren Park have to tolerate this deadly and half assed interim plan that diverts trucks and cars down the detour at N 14th to N11th and over 5 busy avenues? 1 year ? 5 years? It's crap that Bloomberg thinks will get him reelected and claim his green legacy. Isaac Abraham IS taking all the "credit" . I guess I will blame Nydia Velazquez too. The modern day civil engineer means something entirely different today. The DOT might as well be a p.r. firm. Lame.

It is fascinating that you being childless and menopausal makes you imagine reading "it's for the children". Go back to sleep you naive twit.

stroller mom is most likely stroller grandmom and the wife of Isaac Abraham, city council candidate. How many votes have you promised Bloomberg to get your street parking back?

The lack of a neighborhoods ability to feel safe that their own community boards and interest groups are not MOSTLY looking out for really bad ideas being handed down to them by an administration determined to come out looking good in an election year, rather than being good, is really scary. These groups aren't doing their due diligence to look out for this shit. Instead, they condone it with letters that have a p.s.. be careful!
I think that if they really MUST have one-way Kent , then you have to do it ALL the way back to Greenpoint av. ; or not at all. A "booby trap" maze to dissuade truckers at N 14 Wythe, N 11th, to Union from doing it again is stupid. It is time to create a through truck route. ( double red lines on a truck map legend for designated through truck route) across the Pulaski Bridge, McGuinness, & part of Greenpoint ave. we need agencies to be expected to enforce it. It is total dysfunction to have at least 2/3 of the truck traffic in the neighborhood NOT to be local deliveries. They cut across btw the pulaski & Greenpoint towards the Navy yard. A detour by across 5 avenues and by a Park is a deadly way to discourage truckers from using a local route and finding a better one next time.

Your point would be what? Of course you could get twice as many people "for" the plan. Some people clearly would be well served by it being one-way. duh. That doesn't diminish what those opposed to it are fearful of. To say that more people are for it than against it just points out that some people would support a bad idea if they had something personal to gain from it, and that is more important than dangers inflicted on people they don't know or care about.

Thanks stroller mom! We'll remember you said it. Actually Vito Lopez quoted ME at his last cb1 meeting when he said, " Like she said, it's a done deal" So you and I can fight over bragging rights. I hope it doesn't mess up your ugly wig.
FIGHT IT ANYWAY! So when the first child gets run over by a truck at N 11th and Union, we won't have blood on OUR hands. It will be on the DOT , Janette Sadik-Khan, Mayor Mike, NAG , Theresa Toro , and most of all cb1 for approving of it.

Will its being on The Kent ave Improvement Plan's truck detour route down N 11th street be an asset to it's development?

It will suck to live here by July 2009, as trucks will be detoured off Kent ave & up and down both sides of these condos.

Wow , I really want to buy a condo on the soon to be route of heavy truck traffic detoured down my street. It's a by-product of the fantastic progress for the good of all mankind created by The Kent Avenue Improvement Plan.

and not just in one direction but on both sides, as the trucks will turn back around at Union avenue and come up N. 10 th street. It sounds super safe and enjoyable.

Fanning out a bad situation onto several other streets is not a solution. It's a band-aid.
Zinka, I DO hope you are right. I fear that you are really wrong.
