I've bought granite and marble from Mondial tile on 14th ave and 65th street, and their product and fabrication was terrific. I imagine they would have soapstone too. They have a great showroom and selection as well.

Rather then replace altogether have you considered just repairing the crack(s)? Some years back I lived in a building with several cracked and severly degraded lintels and they were able to fix them and recreate the details from scratch.

Transcend construction recently renovated my bathroom and venting was something included in the scope. Since pricing for the work was all inclusive, I don't know what the venting cost on its own, but it included making a hole through bricks and installing the fan unit.
I highly recommend them, they did a great job in my bathroom and other parts of my house. They can be reached at 347-407-1816 and they advertise on the forum.

Just had a bunch of work done around my house, some big some small, and very happy with the end result. I hired Transcend Construction to reno my bathroom, and ended up having them do many odds and ends while here. I'd have to say they are good at many things, and will definately have them come back next year for some outdoor work which they said they also do.

I hear that the contractor who did Root Hill Cafe is really amazing. Why don't you stop in and ask who it is?

I am having Trancend give me an estimate this week. Would you be willing to post before/after pics of the work done for you? I can give you an email address if you want to send them privately.

Yeah, it's a violation but so what? just open the door if the smell is bad.

bathrooms must either have a window or be vented according to the building codes. But check the DOB site and do a search. Best way to find out for sure.

How are you going to run a vent up through your neighbors apartments to the roof in order to make this comply?
Make them remove the bathroom or find a different apartment.

you could spread cat litter all over the floor of the bathroom and be sure to refresh it regularly. think of the bathroom as a beach and it will all feel normal.

Any ideas for getting rid of a metal security gate that was recently removed from a brownstone?
Posted by: guest at July 11, 2008 10:53 AM in response to Windowless bathroom without a vent
10:53 - put that gate on the sidewalk right now. It will be gone in the next 3 hours. Metal is in high demand, and every crazy thing I've ever put outside (granted I live on busy Prospect Park SW) has been gone lickety-split.
Failing that - post it for free on CraigsList, you'd be amazed what people will race each other to get for free.

Bay Ridge window and door. I saw their work on a number of homes in my area, just not sure if they would do the capping w/o the windows.
