want to extend patio

Not looking to do anything fancy, but I want to extend the patio in my backyard. Where does everyone get those nice slabs of rock (slate?) that I see in brownstone backyards. I am checki Lowe's and Home Deport this weekend and will have access to a car. Thanks!

Never been in a Lululemon store but they do give free yoga classes in Bryant Park all summer which are really good.

I like the crappy bodega. It is places like this that give a neighborhood character and make it interesting. I love the sign on the door that says No Skates, No Smoke. The people that work there are pleasant and they carry some interesting goods. I understand that this might not be my attitude if it was the only place to shop but PH is cool like that, plenty of flavor to go around. Whadda ya want a 7-Eleven (generic) or Union Market where a can of peaches is 3.99?

Ok, the food is not the best I have ever had but it is good. They have a great DJ on Thursday nights and the manager (?) always remembers that I like my guac extra spicy. Why does everything always have to be super stupendous out of this work OMG excellent? Why can't a place just be good and comfortable and fun.
They are aslo very fast and reliable for delivery.

Here's the skinny - Lobo on Court - great brunch - food better than ok (Try Migas!) but bloodies in a mason jar on the back porch priceless. Lots of sun - checking out the blue jays and squirrels in the big trees an oasis - The regular menu not so hot but not disgusting and the folks there are really nice and remember you. *

never been to the slope version because I keep hearing that it is not as good and besides no blue jays - What the point? ; )

* unlike Beast -my fav place until last weekend when I waited almost an hour for a table only to have it be given to a cute lesbian date couple because they had reservations? Since when does Beast take reservations? I live right around the corner and I have ben there a million times and the hostess always acts like she has never seen me. What a downer.

I agree with KHuebbe. I think it is ok, not the best I have ever had but certainly not the worst. I have always had pleasant, no problem service from them. I have never eaten in the restaurant, just ordered take-out.

Where did Corcoran get that pic of 4th ave? Are those trees really there? Hell, makes me want to live there. It's kind of like when you see scenes of New York on TV and say to your self "Where is that NY?"

This was happening with a building in my hometown. I would walk by and see beautiful gold finches dead on the side walk. The building helped the problem by putting big Birds of Prey decals on the windows. These warn birds away from the windows. It is a low cost solution and once the building did this it really cut down on crashes.

Used to order from the 7th ave location and the fish was amazing, not so much from the other location. I was surprised how not good it was compared to 7th ave. We used to joke that the owners must be a bunch of brothers and they gave the bad fish location to the Fredo brother.

I lived on 15th street right off the square and it really is a cavern of sound. We kind of liked it. We called it "The Song of 15th Street". It sounded something like this "I told you not to call me on my cell phone - I be at school all day - I know it's 2 in the morning that why I told you not to call. Dumb B*%ch" or once "I am Hispanic MF, We are the best, you are sh*&t. We are the Hispanic Peoples" all with the clank clank of bums digging through the recycling bins and the whirl of skateboards in the background. I heard all of this from my bedroom on the 4th floor. We would wake up laughing sometimes saying sleepily did you hear that? Anyway, I really loved this street from the guys at Royal Deli to the Connecticut Muffin and 12th Street Bar and Grill, Jaya Yoga and Pumpkin Market. I do not miss the F train, but this is why I moved from Alabama (where in '95 I paid $295 for 1 bedroom beautiful apt) to Brooklyn and where I plan to stay.

I am not placing blame on the victim and I will say a prayer that she is ok, but I agree with other posters that this still is New York City. 1:30 is too late to be walking out alone especially in dark low traffic areas. My girlfriends and I have a 12 o'clock rule. If it's close to midnight take a cab.

That is not cool. I used to live in Clinton Hill and I could get to the upper east side (third and 53) in about 20 minutes on a good day and always get a seat. I always felt like I was in on some kind of secret. ; )
