Engineer vs Architect
For a roof top deck, would we hire structural engineer, architect, both, either? Any recs?

I've had a few contractors bid on my simple roof top deck. Some say a permit is required, which itself requires architect plans. Curious what others have done. Also, for pressure treated wood on typical brownstone roof, price ranges. The range I got was between $4500 and $1000 for same material!

I don't have advice, but I'm on same boat as you are. Some contractors insist a permit is needed, while others say since it's not permanently attached, a permit isn't needed. Safety is main concern as well as weight limits. So I'll be watching this thread for updates.
