Scopello is a real find--a cozy but stylish restaurant with great Sicilian food, right near BAM. It has a terrific staff, and it doesn't cost an arm and a leg. My wife and I have eaten there many times, as a couple and with friends, and have never had a disappointing meal.
Some of our favorites include grilled calamari salad, pappardelle al ragu, lamb shank with polenta, short ribs over risotto and cassatelle. The specials are usually excellent. We like the choice of nero d'avola wines. Scopello's diverse clientele, attractive decor, informality and well-chosen music creates a good vibe in the restaurant and the bar. The management and wait staff are attentive and friendly.
We hosted a large party at Scopello and they handled it perfectly.
It's hard to believe that some of the negative comments I'm reading describe the same Scopello we love. Maybe some jealous competitors?
