It seems to me that if you're going to be resentful of others' having more money than you then perhaps "wallpaper designer" is not the profession you should enter........

I was just going to ask the question slopefarm raised. Why not co-op this and sell each of the floors? Floor through units in the area (including some identical ones in the buildings adjacent to this one) have been selling for $500-$650 k recently. Even if the prices have backed off this a little bit it would still fetch more than a single sale, no?

I also had the problem of them not having it recorded as my primary residence - despite the fact that I got my STAR refund check which supposedly goes off of the same database. At any rate, when I spoke with the finance folks about it they said that those of us who didn't get our checks in the original mailing would have to wait until they ran the reports again. She estimated that it would be a couple of weeks before they sent out a new batch. That was two weeks ago so hopefully they'll be doing it soon.

I've been seeing them around Prospect Heights a lot recently. They're very cute but even without rabies they can be pretty vicious, best to steer clear.

Maybe a little bit small for the price but not out of the question. They make a big point about the roof rights allowing you to turn it into a duplex but it looks to me like this would fall within the proposed historic district, right? Seems like you'd really need to get moving if you wanted to get plans approved before it gets landmarked. Now that the districting question is officially on the calendar I think there's already some extra regulatory hurdles to jump through.

The top floor of a prospect heights brownstone just around the corner at 169 Park just went for $625k. That was a true two bedroom, had a working fireplace and was I think closer to 900 sq ft. but I don't think it had private roof access. This looks like it's priced ok if you're willing to trade a bit of indoor space for outdoor privacy. Maybe it's a touch high but not completely unrealistic.

I can never remember is The What saying our brownstones aren't going to be worth anything because Atlantic Yards is happening or because it isn't happening? C'mon What, even the Unibomber eventually managed to compose a manifesto with more depth than just calling everyone "asshat."
