Rat Infestation
This summer seems major rat infestation in backyards of block Smith/Butler/Baltic.
Anyone else in area of Smith had this also?
Recommendations, suggestions?
Of course, restaurants and food sellers are big magnet and we have been after a couple of them (with little progress), called 311, CB6, Yassky, etc and have set baits and traps.

Maybe Roddick is good friends with Grewcock.
And Joni Mitchell is more famous than Travers, Cobble.

Very few people have the potential of the amazing Scorpios born on November 7. They possess intelligence and spirituality in equal measure. Although they have a strong sense of mission, they need a lot of time to concentrate on their personal sense of fulfillment. They are often drawn to New Age studies and attitudes.

price does seem pretty good on Hoyt. Block tends to be pretty busy and mixed business and residential. But is in zone for pretty good elem school and the new townhouses around the corner sell for pretty big $$$.

November 6 Scorpios are passionate, romantic individuals who communicate on many levels. Although relationships are the center of their lives, they are self-sufficient. They may seem serious, but they know how to have a good time. They love luxury and all the creature comforts. When they feel blue, they have a tendency to pamper themselves.
Happy Birthday DIBS

If developer/contractor bought this bldg and did renovation ,IMHO did not cost anywhere close to $1.5m.
Perhaps they might charge some no-nothing bulging pockets
finance type that much because they would know most don't care how much or too stupid to know it shouldn't.

3) "luxury" users ---- nice idea but I would guess that many daily users are not affluent at all and use the highways are parkways to get to jobs that are not central business district. Or travel takes so long using public transit becomes unfeasible. Most people on this site tend to the affluent and working downtown/midtown manhattan and pretty well served by subway at home and work (even with all the complaining about F train, etc). And we tend to think just about everyone else lives/works with similar mass transit options (and works daytime hours). But I believe reality is good %age of workers don't make as much and their jobs are much more scattered around NYC and region. And their job search/prospects would be much more limited if became too expensive to drive.

see Gingerbread house already 1/2 off. BHO was right.
Without seeing figures on the estimates is purely speculative to see how much labor costs factor in. It is just the kneejerk response to blame labor/unions. Yes I'm sure would cost less if brought in truckloads of illegal laborers and set up a work campsite for them and paid them a few $ per hour. Or just skip paying them end of week.

my math only off by factor of 10 Mr. Wizard.
So how much do bridges cost these days anyway? I haven't appraised them lately. Yes, does sound like handsome amt.
Just annoying how you blame people that would actually do the physical labor as reason for high cost rather than corporations that will make the more dramatic profits.
Who will do the bidding and how much do they contribute to those that can pick the winner.
And don't forget the extra costs because of whiney NYers who think that any major construction project should somehow not inconvenience them in the least.

Hard to believe that to have unmarried partner move in with you in this day and age you would need approval of landlord.

"Finally, I am always wary when science wades into the field of politics, as has happened with this issue."-
I am much more wary when religions wade into field of politics which they seem to do on way way too many issues...
and a certain group in a certain party exploits that and is dependent upon it.

Corzine would have lost last year at this time also. Even if presidential election were same day. He did better Tues. than he would have done in spring (hardly time for any Obama factor to happen) where Cristie showed much larger lead (if you believe polls).

I disagree Legion. I stated facts about many many states vote for governor in 1 party and president in another. Even states that solid 'red' or 'blue' and gave examples both ways. In real elections.
You reference poll numbers and how unreliable they are. And try to spin governors elections as a referendum on federal gov't policy. There is a big disconnect between state and fed.

absolutely get rid of her. Best way is to demand a $500 increase on renewal. Your life will be so much easier.
I rent for below market just so I don't have to deal with such a person.
Just politely say you are not going to renew lease and have other plans for apartment. Call lawyer and start a 'holdover' eviction paperwork. This will save time, money are reduce stress.

changing minds is one thing and hard to do...it is those that don't have firm opinion that ads are aimed towards. Whether to sell a candidate or product.
But amazing the zillion that Bloomberg spent (I think $157 per vote?)
Posted by: Petebklyn at November 5, 2009 2:18 PM in response to Open Thread
Legion,
I think your interpretation of election is probably more spin (or wish) than reality. Governors of states are often other 'color' than how state votes in presidential elections and congressional delegations. New York state had republican governor for (seems like) eternity but hardly votes 'red' in pres. elections. And that rightwing panderer from Minn. that stuck his nose in upstate congressional election represents a state that is pretty reliably democratic for president. Arkansas, Tenn and Wyoming have democratic governors but those state are hardly democratic column.
Different issues on state level. And as in all elections personality often plays bigger role than issues.

ok - it has brick exterior and boxshaped. SO?
Like lots of other bldgs of that period...from low income to high income. What makes it 'crap'...?
Even the 'projects'? how are they crap? have you ever been in them? Smaller rooms usually (from ones I've seen), public spaces more utilitarian or drab if you prefer. Same with kitchens and baths....And in this congress st bldg I don't think the kitchen and bath were so generic or low-income.
