Antiques For Sale
The large ebonized pier mirror I had posted previously is now ebay item number 330235288346
I also have a large empire/victorian Wardrobe, solid tiger maple chest, smaller empire chest (mahogany) and a painting by Herbert Sparks You can see all here: http://www.pbase.com/bachfan/forconceptgallery
You may also be interested in this painting of Frederick The Great playing the flute: http://www.pbase.com/empirebuilder/frederick_the_great
These items are all in Pittsburgh. I know two shippers who do occasional runs to Pittsburgh and may be able to bring them. They could also be combined with something else I am shipping later in May.

Pier Mirror From a Brownstone
I have a large mirror that looks like it came from a brownstone. There's a molding contour cut out of the back. I'd like to sell it. It's currently in my house in Pittsburgh. It's a little more than 8 feet high and 47." It has a marble shelf at the bottom. It's ebonized wood with great inlay. wide. 412-499-3482

Of course there is more than one winter scene. Where did you get the idea there was only one?

Sure, I've seen lots of American Art in New York, more than anywhere. I've not met too many people interested in it, however. I think its trapped in some realm of exclusivity. I love the American Wing at the Met and the NY Historical Society. Everything that's done to promote it, or anything related to it like antique collecting, seams to be directed at wealthy senior citizens.
Newark is a great place for American Art btw. If you can, please post your comments on the urbanantiques.blogspot.com comments.

I hope that a new administration will help bring some renewed pride in America and interest in objects and paintings from the first century of our existence. We need the likes of Alice Walton, like Ford, Rockefeller, Hogg and DuPont before her, to breath new life and interest to American Art and Decorative Arts. I hate seeing our great collections of American Art overlooked. Nature hates a vacuum and the vacuum that New York creates, Arkansas fills.

I like the idea of restoring the existing single-pane windows. I also understand the actual heat savings from single vs double pane windows, if the casings are insulated, is quite minimal and takes a long long time to recover the cost if your windows were being changed simply for energy-efficiency reasons. Double pane windows do insulate somewhat for sound, however. If you're simply worried about energy savings, better to concentrate on the attic and the highest-efficiency furnace possible. (plus turn the heat down and wear a sweater!)

I am asking $2,000. I paid more than that and shipped it from Rochester, Ny to San Francisco then to Pittsburgh. It's better than most I have seen.

The NY Post article author called me after I posted on another venue about seeing dead birds around the building. I assumed bird #1 had just croaked, then when a second twitched before falling into permanent slumber, I suspected it may have hit the building. It's common knowledge that birds often meet their end when they hit glass. This is however only one of the reasons I question the wisdom of the proliferation of this renewable building material.
