11217- I like your optimism. But I think America is about to undergo a fundamental change. Even after the Depression, we had the threat of Fascism and then WW2 within the same decade.

Wow! 11233 - you're really venting aren't you?? While you're preaching & spewing a lot bullshits and naivete on the system, at least I am helping you to connect with your truer and inner feelings about how you see your fellow neighbors.

11233: You have no concept or idea of being/living as a Minority in US do you?? That only explains your "knee-jerk" dismissal of racism today and that "poor" Whites cannot be racist bc their economic plight. Actually "poor" Whites tend to be the worst kind of racists, IMO.

If you honestly believe that 11233 then I guess we're only undergoing "mental recession" and racism ceased to exist since 21st America is all going be about class struggle. You must be a RepubliKKKlan.

The fact that more and more Whites are moving into the City when real estate prices are all time high and more more Blacks are moving out of the City for lower-cost locales means Whites have more options than Blacks. Why deny the obvious?

Meredith Whitney STILL states that the housing price will fall another 33-40% from here. She estimates/predicts that credit card companies will retract $2Tril worth of consumer credits from the market in '09. I believe 2-3 years from now many of us will look back on this board and realize how F*&ing naive & bunch of clowns we are. I am sorry to say but I believe this IS the proverbial "once in a generation" financial Tsunami hitting America today.

Been there 3 years ago and never went back. Probably served great pizzas sometime in the past but now its infested with Brooklyn bridge tourists/visitors from Midwest somewhere with the endless long lines and cramped tables/seatings inside. When our standard pizza came out with "fresh" basils all burnt crisped, I knew the place seen better days and owner is just seeing the $$.
I think US & European economies are in for long and slow deflationary period something akin to the Japanese since '89 real estate bust. Inflation has been the global story for the past several years but deflation- assets, dollars, & commodities, will be hallmark for the next decade plus to come. There aren't enough credits in the world to sustain the American & European lifestyles and thus global markets & prices have to adjust to decreased demands.

Ignorances on this board is boundless. Koreans historically & culturally ate dogs, not cats. They ate from their cultural belief that eating dog meats somehow strengthens and speeds physical recovery from sickness and surgeries. Secondly, consumption of dogs have been banished by the gov't but then there's always the underworld markets to serve up.

bxgrl- There are some NGO estimates that over 600,000 Iraqi civilian lives have perished since the War began. But here we are discussing about Korean savagery. How ironic, no??

Hey Mr. ILuvDeadNimbys...nice first post. So, tell me which you rather have..Koreans still eating our beloved dogs/cats or countless hundreds of thousands of innocent Iraqi women & children dying under American reckless adventure??

I don't think the Asians class mentioned in the NYT article will be doing food deliveries in your nabes any time soon. They're your more "uppity" Asians professionals and probably more of internationalists in terms of investment and money.

I find it bit troubling and uneasy that when I frequent a lot of these new Brooklyn places like Saul, Al Li Da, Franny, Rose Water etc. that my gf & I happen to be the only persons of Minority group represented at the given time of the day. Yet, most of the wait/kitchen staffs working and serving these establishments are of Hispanics group. Its interesting that this is occurring in a borough where Minorities make up more 70-80% of the population. Just an observation.

Gf and I when Barrio opened. I felt the food was clean, fresh, tasty, and pricey nevertheless. Service staff was attentive and friendly, but bit too eager and perky -like surburbia perkiness if you know I mean. I really wanted the hanger steak with chimchurri sauce but they only served it on Fri or Sat, I forget. I thought the entree menu was bit limited on choices, so I had to compromise, but I forget now what I ended up ordering. Overall, its a good addition to Park Slope dining options, and I hope to go back and finally try that steak.
Why is this even news? I remember paying 15% broker fee back in year 2000 to live in Forest Hills/Queens.

Been there once when they opened. Great pizza no doubt, but worth $19/22 for single serving size? Maybe. But, I just couldn't stand the snobbish & elite air from the waitstaff. Definitly not Brooklyn style at all.
However, been going to LUCALI ever since to get my gourmet pizza fix. Great pizza/ambience/people...and legend in making, perhaps, next Domenico?
Judging by the OP post of "cool people", I don't think Bay Ridge quite fits the bill. Don't fall for the "value trap".

Simply put, DIBS prolly is under the common misnomer here that his ttl equity value is a function how much time loitered on Brownstoner site.
