The handyman mystery has been solved
William "Junior" Prates has been sick; his wife just emailed me to let me know. I'll post comments on his work and if he's good, a recommendation, as I've found the recommendations made by others very helpful.
Thoughts on handyman named William "Junior" Prates?
I hired a handyman that was recommended through this site, William "Junior" Prates, and I wonder if anyone has had a bad experience with him. He has been late in starting the job in my apartment and now, I can't track him or his wife down, so I'm starting to get worried, as I paid 50% of the agreed-upon price last week. It could be that something came up and this is why he hasn't yet returned my calls, but it might also be that I've been taken in for a ride. Thoughts?

I second Faye. Junior Prates is excellent. He replastered/repainted the foyer, kitchen, hallway and bathroom in my apartment recently and did a great job. He's also very trustworthy: I left the keys to my apartment with him, as I had to leave home early to go to work, and had no problems.
