thinking about moving to Prospect Heights from Fort Greene as well... finally tired of there not being any real subways close to where I live and having to rely on buses to good subways. if you know of any other good rentals in the area please let me know. thanks

how do they get away with so much wood [combustible material] in the rear yard?? Fences are only allowed to be 6' high.

I think those balconies may be what are illegal. I think zoning set a limit to the depth of balconies.

yes, from my experience electrical inspection take about a month to schedule and they can't be self-certified a la plumbing inspections so you have to wait for a time when the DOB can actually send someone. as denton mentioned you can check in online, just look up your address on the BIS.

Carmine Francomano Jr. noted in the article & indictment was the building inspector for one of the buildings my office designed and never asked us for a bribe when he came to inspect the building... I guess we were lucky?

they got busted because someone called in a complaint and the fence was put up without a permit, which I think was already discussed under the previous thread. I don't know what the owner was thinking so blatantly ignoring the requirements. I don't think he can claim ignorance unless he has been living in a cave for the past 3 years with the way the DOB has cracked down on so many violating conditions.

I agree with jcarch, you should be able to withdraw the previous application, though it will not be easy since permits were pulled under the Alt II application. You may have to have an inspection and the two sets of approved drawings might need to be reviewed by the auditor. This should be something your new architect & their expediter can help you with, but I would imagine there will be an extra fee associated with this work.

can we please start calling this Finger Building Part II. this building is so incredibly out of scale for this neighborhood and it ignores the context around it completely! this building could be put down in any city across America... it is a real shame.

I agree... so cheap it doesn't sound like a real price. More like something to get them in the door and then they will just keep giving you change order after change order after change order.
