I just bought tiles from Tile Depot (on Steuben St near the intersection of Flushing Avenue and the BQE). They have a great selection of stuff, good prices, and they are really nice and helpful.

I've also recently used Verrazano Flooring for all of the rooms + hallway on my top floor. Every space was involved either the matching/re-creation of borders or the installation of an entirely new floor. They did an excellent job, were very helpful, and all of their workers were really nice to deal with. I heartily recommend them to anyone.

I just noticed this strand. I totally agree with CrownHeightsProud. It's one thing to want to buy low and sell high, but I find it disgraceful to buy up properties and become a slumlord (or actually keep a property vacant and crumbling) for years. The city should more frequently condemn buildings like that, take them from these heartless speculators, rehab them, and then sell them. This profit-uber-alles attitude tis disgusting.

Interesting that the article talks about Franklin Avenue but shows a photo of Carroll Street between Kingston and Albany Avenues. That's a good half mile away from Franklin Avenue and not the trendy neighborhood to which the article refers. I live here and like it a lot, but I doubt coffee houses are about to open in the heart of this Hasidic neighborhood.

So thanks for the Park Slope lead they are really good. But I'm not sure about getting a counter top. Which is better granite or marble ?
