I liked getting urban organic for a while, but like the previous poster, found it hard to keep up. At the start it was fun being surprised by the veggies I received, then it started stressing me out.."what am I going to do with ALL THIS chard???" and so I stopped getting it.

I love them. SOOO convenient. But I had to put a permanent moratorium on kale. Every week I got kale, so I told them once- no more kale- and it never came again. They were always reliable and the produce so fresh and lovely. Once my box was stolen, and they delivered a new one free!

We used to get the small box for a family of 4. You can leave standing instructions not to get the stuff you don't like and you can make substitutions.

Great service, but we found a whole box of fresh stuff every week was overwhelming and started referring to it as "the tyranny of the box." Can't go out tonight, dear, a new box is coming tomorrow and the fridge is still full. I wonder if they'd do every other week?

Agree with all of the prior posters - great idea but too much stuff if you don't cook a big meal every single day. (LOL - I never ate so much chard as the time when I got urban organic.)

Ha! The CHARD!
We signed up when we first moved to Sunset Park. Even the small box was way too many vegetables, but I stopped freaking out about it and just brought the excess to coworkers and gave them away. Spreading the vegetable cheer. But there was so much of the "eh" stuff (chard, carrots). When we signed up it was winter, so I said, hey let's just wait until all that summer good stuff comes. But then the "summer good stuff" would be one very bruised tomato (and a whole lot of chard and carrots), and for fruit one peach. That was irritating. I wanted summer fruit. Not more chard!

Freshdirect does have organic vegetables. Ask for and get only what you want when you want it. You can also choose local supplier things too as that's the latest fad.

Thanks for all the feedback. We signed up for the service but also put a request in for them to offer an option to receive the box every TWO weeks. It would still allow them to plan their purchases in advance but it would be less onerous for small households like us. We'll see what happens...

"HI, we appreciate the feedback, and we do offer the box on a weekly basis, or biweekly basis, and we also offer periodic delivery. (a person calls us before 3 the day before we are in their area and we will happily deliver a box."
