Appraisal less than offer... sound familiar?
Well, I put in an offer for a property in Crown Heights, Brooklyn. The appraisal came back for $20,000 less than the offer and places me in a pickle. The property is a modest studio that's less than 180K, but the mortgage situation changes abruptly and is less desirable; aside from the fact that I would be purchasing a property for more than the bank honors. Any suggestions, familiarity, comments on like situations.

960 Sterling Place
Can anyone comment on this property in Crown Heights Brooklyn. I have been looking at a few studio units in this building and the price per square foot is phenomenal, not to mention the maintenance is low. Any members live in the building?

What they lack in space and ambiance they make up for in food. Fresh, delicious, and always on point. A breath of fresh air in a neighborhood with a weak food landscape, rife with fast food, Chinese takeout, pizza, and fried chicken. This place is an indication that it's changing... for the better. Thank you Chavellas. ...and they deliver to Franklin Park!

not bad at all. the brunch is where it's at. sit at the bar and you may even score a few free rounds.
my two cents...

great food, great prices. good service. not so great ambiance... brooklyn bohemian. i must admit the tempura, fish collars, udon, and sushi (eel, octopus, salmon, and fatty tuna) are fantastic.

not bad, not great! much better pan-latin fare, but you get what you pay for and the food is consistent.

Went for brunch, another time for cocktails. Food is inconsistent, but the drinks are great! Try Miracle Grill across the street for brunch, they have better huevos rancheros and blody mary's; if that's your shtick.

$35 beer in brooklyn... laughable! they might need to re-realize their location and price more in line with their anticipated neighborhood clientele. considering red hook isn't exactly a densely populated high income area.
two cents...

a little too expensive $$$ for this part of bedstuy. in my opinion there aren't enough amenitities to justify $2600 for a two-bedroom, but to each his own.

Some interesting developments in Crown Heights. Very nice addition to the neighborhood and just in time for summer 2008. Too bad they didn't list Guinness as a draft option.
