rec for handy man and plumber costs?

Also can anyone recommend someone to do a simple contracting job, painting and flooring and perhaps
new
opening for a wall and some drywall work- moving entry from one place to
another but very simple. its for
our basement/playroom den...does not have to be absolutely immaculate job. will
not pay
top price for this area. wnat a very handy person rather than a full fledged busy contractor for this small job.
I also need to have a new hot water heater installed? what do you expect the
cost from a
plumber to do this? I am getting huge diffferences in quotes?

thanks

Crawl space Insulation- fiberglass or cellulose?

Is cellulose insulation really better than fiberglass products to insulate the crawl space under my roof? Can anyone confirm or explain otherwise? THANKS!

Window and cornice repair and paint

We are going to repair and paint our windows and cornice black (they are now white) and I wondered if there are any specific paints to use (other than outdoor) or if anyone had any recommendations on best processes, etc...glossy not glossy etc...? I am in the process of getting bids and want to know a little more about this. Thanks

Have a Mr. Slim in a condo I own. I like it, it does the job. Quiet.

Thanks for sharing the quote. Are you in a landmark district? Do you need permits for this kind of work?

Yes, you need permits because of the new electrical work. You'll also need a permit to install a roof-top compressor (as a neighbor learned the hard way: with a $2,000 fine from DOB responding to a nasty neighbor's complaint).

I've been working with Fred from Rumba Air. He's a great guy with an excellent crew. They haven't finished yet, so my enthusiasm may be misdirected. But I have a good feeling about this guy. The prep work has been immaculate, they are on time every day, and are very clean.

lymandval: can you share who your HVAC contractor was?
