Good car service in CH/CG?

Hi guys, anyone know of a good, clean, on-time, not crazy car service in Cobble Hill/Carroll Gardens area? We've used Cobble Hill car service & not been thrilled. Any new suggestions? Thanks!

Building mortgage-what's normal?

Are there any red flags to look for concerning the underlying mortgage of a co-op building? For example, a place I looked at (didn't end up making an offer) was a 4 unit brownstone co-op with, according to the broker, an underlying mortgage of about $500,000. Bad? Good? Okay? Any advice on the topic would be appreciated.

Bklyn Designs House Tour?

Anybody know what's up w/ this?
http://www.dwell.com/home-tours/

Is it the same as today's BHA Tour? Seems weird to have two on the same day.

Anyway, hope the weather holds out for the BHA Tour!

How Valuable is a Garage?

Here's a question: How much would a 1-car garage increase the value of a 1-bed coop in the Carroll Gardens/Cobble Hill/Boerum Hill area? Thoughts?

real estate search websites besides Trulia?

A while ago someone had suggested an alternative to Trulia—I believe it had the word "street" in the name? Does anyone know what website that is, or have any other recs? Thanks.

I look forward to these every year, love when they start to decay! Jane & Chip, if you're reading, thanks for doing such a fun thing for the neighborhood!

Hi Noodles--The building doesn't happen to be on Clinton Street in CG, does it? Have seen some listings for (small) 2-beds in a building there that's being converted. Was possibly going to take a look at one...

Good luck!

let's address the really pressing issue here... gemini10's question about who has the best chocolate croissant in the area. my personal fave source is Naidre's-- they get their chocolate croissants from Balthazar, so you have to go early enough on the weekend or they sell out. Marquet's are not bad, not great. Mazzola's are, sadly, not very good (I love Mazzola's breads, but croissants just aren't their thing). Almondine's are really good, but that's all the way in Dumbo.

I'm on Henry St. very nearby, on a parlor floor apt. Henry St. can be pretty loud sometimes--nothing insane, but it's def not a quiet street. Especially when the garbage/recycling trucks come by in the a.m. Love the neighborhood, tho, have been here for 7+ yrs, so clearly the noise hasn't bugged me that much.

hey Goldie, you know, i googled "rare cloud formations," and these are apparently called "mammatus clouds." so, dude, you're pretty much right.

Awesome picture! These were the crazy round clouds from last week when it stormed, right? My husband & I actually had a very nice Brooklyn neighborhood moment when we went out to look at them--a few people stopped & we all chatted about how weird & cool the clouds were.

If you want to have dinner in Positano, Donna Rosa is really great. It's way up high on the mountain so you have to take a cab. My husband and I really loved it.

Thanks lula mae. How frequently do the trucks come? In general is there minimal traffic late night/early am?

Any other opinions on this? They would be much appreciated, thanks.

Those apartments, I believe, specify that you must be an all-cash buyer, due to the fact that it is being converted to condominiums one unit at a time and is majority rentals.

Babs: Thanks again for your insight! The building has some 20 or so units in it and they are converting the whole building saving a some for rentals. I will have to get the offering plan and look into this a little more. We decided to hit a couple of open houses on our own to see how it goes without a broker. So far, confused but ok. :)

Lula: these are in Prospect Heights / Crown Heights...

Thanks!
