Street Cleaning / Leaf pickup

Now that the leaves have very much fallen I have a question.

Given that the city has suspended the leaf pickup and the street cleaners will not clean the sides of the streets because of the leaves (they just drive down the middle of the street). Can I just sweep the leaves from the side of my street into the middle of the road right before the street cleaner comes by?

Ipe Deck seal

We had a deck installed last week. They coated it with Anchorseal
http://www.uccoatings.com/Home/Products/ANCHORSEAL
(I just found that out today).

It still hasnt dried and it also rained in the last two days and the Anchorseal has gone this white color.

Upon researching Anchorseal Ive realized that it should never have been used in the first place.

My question is when the contractor comes back tomorrow, what are my options?

Did they ruin the wood and do we have to rip it up.
Can it be cleaned off
Can it be sanded off.
Right now it has the same consistency as if they just painted Vaseline on it?

Any insight would be appreciated.

Fire Escape Removal

I've got a question about fire escape removal. If a house was a 4-family and the C of O was legally changed to a 2 family and you want to tear down the fire escape on the back, are you required to get a permit or sign-off from the city? The rental is on the bottom floor with an owner triplex above.

Why do the detectives think it was one of your neighbors? If it was, do you think those neighbors might still have it? Would it be worth posting pictures in your neighborhood? You should consider some of the salvage and rubbish places, too, on the chance that it was stolen for scrap. The iron guys in the Lowe's parking lot on 9th St. & 2nd Ave. are great guys. If there's a chance it was stolen to be sold as scrap, they might be able to suggest places to contact. Might be worthwhile for you to bring a photo print to the Brooklyn Flea or similar and ask some of the dealers for their suggestions about who to contact and where to look. There are several antique stores along Coney Island Ave., and many individual (not grouped) shops throughout Brooklyn. In addition to Google, look in the Yellow Pages (you can find in a library, if not one at home).

People definately do not steal this type of thing for scrap. Right now it is sitting in some dude's living room with a bra on and a doob hanging from its mouth.

Vinca, just so you know. A statue like this or this statue rather wouldnt be used as scrap metal. This is an antique piece. Thanks for the lead to the stores though.

Flawless: I understand your item's intended use and value, and also understand that people who steal such things don't normally abide by the same standards as the original owner (whether using for scrap, using to decorate a mancave, or finding ANY intermediary who'll turn it into quick cash). If your statue/suit of armor has documented provenance and extraordinary value, I suggest you send photos to the major auction houses. I wish you much luck recovering your family's heirloom.

Halloween?

Antiques and the Arts has a stolen items listing. No doubt you can get the word out to a large number of dealers on this site.

Also, Halloween is coming up - you might check out trick-or-treaters.
